Jonny Bairstow: Trent Bridge, 14 June 2022 T-Shirt
The ball-by-ball scoring of one of the most destructive displays of Test Match batting of all time. At Trent Bridge, shortly after 12 o'clock on 14 June 2022 England went in to bat in the fourth innings on the final day against New Zealand requiring an improbable 299 to win. Within 16 overs they found themselves 56/3, still over 240 runs behind having just lost Joe Root with Jonny Bairstow arriving at the crease. What followed was an example of Test Match power hitting that has rarely been seen before, as Bairstow relentlessly targeted the short boundary with six after six. He reached his century in just 77 balls, smashing 14 fours and 7 sixes and, by the time he was caught behind by Blundell off the bowling of Boult, had scored 136 runs in 92 balls and England were nearly home and dry.
This design shows every ball Bairstow faced in that innings, including every dot, plus four leg-byes and a bye. The top line figures are his balls before tea, the bottom line after when he and Stokes upped the tempo in their run chase.
